Travel Information

Maps:

There are PostScript maps available of the Brown campus and of Providence. A detail of the Barus and Holley Building is appears below.

Bus:

Bonanza and Greyhound buslines provide service to Providence.    Bonanza offers  to Providence from Boston. The bus station is located north of Providence's downtown. From there, you can take a shuttle to Kennedy Plaza in the heart of downtown followed by a brief walk or taxi ride to campus. Alternatively, you can take a taxi directly from the bus station.

Train:

Providence is on the Northeast Corridor Amtrak route. The train station is located near Providence's downtown area. It is a brief walk or taxi ride to campus.

Car:

Take Interstate Route 95 to Providence. At Exit 20 (Cape Cod, East Providence) take Interstate 195 East to Exit 2. At the bottom of the exit ramp, turn left (east) onto Wickenden Street. After a few blocks, turn left (north) onto Hope Street. The physics department is located in Barus-Holley, the tall building at the NW corner of Hope and George Streets. Parking is always a problem near the University. Your best bet is probably to look for on-street parking to the east/south of Barus-Holley.
