Imaging Techniques for Observational Cosmology and Gravitational Lensing

The NOAO One Degree Imager (ODI) is a state of the art CCD device for observational cosmology. This instrument is specifically designed to exploit the large one square degree field of view and excellent imaging quality of the WIYN telescope. It will be capable of making real-time corrections to the tip and tilt motions inherent in ground based images (due to the atmospheric seeing) using Orthogonal Transfer Array CCD technology.

With great advances in technology come even greater challenges in application to science. To be able to fully exploit the new ODI detector it is necessary to understand its capabilities and shortcomings. We plan to test the CCDs effectiveness using realistic simulations...
